Overview
Masherbrum (7,821 m) is one of the most iconic mountains in the Karakoram, easily recognized for its sharp pyramid rising above the Baltoro Glacier. It was first climbed in 1960 by George Irving Bell (USA) and Willi Unsoeld (USA), marking one of the great early successes of Himalayan mountaineering.
Nicknamed the “Queen of the Karakoram”, Masherbrum is known for its steep ice walls, technical ridges, and avalanche-prone slopes, making it more challenging than many other 7000m peaks. Because of this, it is less frequently attempted, but for ambitious climbers seeking a prestigious and visually stunning ascent, Masherbrum is unrivaled.
From the summit, climbers are rewarded with sweeping panoramas of K2, Broad Peak, the Gasherbrums, and the full Baltoro Glacier stretching toward Concordia.
With Johnson Expedition, climbers are supported with full Base Camp logistics, experienced guides, high-altitude porters, and the infrastructure required for a serious 7000m attempt.
