Overview
The Chilam Joshi Festival marks the arrival of spring in the Kalash Valleys of Chitral — one of the most unique cultural regions in the world.
The Kalash people, known for their distinct language, clothing, and ancient polytheistic traditions, celebrate spring with:
ritual dances
folk music
traditional attire
prayers for prosperity
community feasts
Women dress in vibrant embroidered robes and hand-beaded headpieces, while men dance in circle formations, welcoming the new season.
This festival offers a rare chance to witness a living culture that has survived for centuries in the remote mountains of Pakistan.
