Overview
The Uchal Festival is the Kalash people’s tribute to the summer harvest season. It reflects gratitude, celebration, and the continuation of the Kalash identity — a rare and ancient culture tucked away in the mountains of Chitral.
During Uchal, locals gather in traditional dress, decorated with intricate beadwork and embroidery. The festival includes:
nightlong dancing
group prayers
ritual singing
lively drum performances
colorful cultural ceremonies
Uchal offers a deeper, more intimate cultural experience compared to Chilam Joshi — fewer crowds, more engagement, and the authentic rhythm of Kalash life.
