Overview

The Biafo & Snow Lake Trek is one of the most remote and breathtaking treks in Pakistan’s Karakoram. Starting from the small village of Askole, trekkers follow the Biafo Glacier (63 km long) — the third-longest glacier outside the polar regions.

At the head of the glacier lies Snow Lake (Lukpe Lawo, ~4,800 m), a vast ice basin that stretches over 16 km across, surrounded by towering peaks. Beyond Snow Lake, the route crosses the Hispar La Pass (5,151 m) to descend into the Hispar Valley, linking two of the great glacier systems of the Karakoram.

This trek is both physically demanding and deeply rewarding, taking you through pristine wilderness where very few trekking groups venture. It combines glacier navigation, wilderness camping, and incredible views of peaks like Baintha Brakk (The Ogre), Latok, and Hispar Muztagh.
