Overview

Chogolisa (7,665 m), known as the “Bride Peak”, is one of the most beautiful 7000m peaks in the Karakoram. Its corniced ridges and sweeping snow pyramid rise above Concordia, the meeting point of Baltoro Glacier and Godwin-Austen Glacier.

First climbed in 1958 by an Austrian team (Fritz Wintersteller, Marcus Schmuck, Hermann Buhl, Kurt Diemberger), Chogolisa is steeped in history and tragedy. The mountain is best known for the fatal fall of Hermann Buhl in 1957, one of the greatest legends of Himalayan mountaineering.

Climbers today approach Chogolisa as a challenging but rewarding 7000m expedition, involving glacier travel, steep snow and ice slopes, and technical ridges with high exposure.

From the summit, climbers are rewarded with incredible views of K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrums, Baltoro Kangri, and Mustagh Tower — making it one of the most scenic climbs in the Karakoram.

With Johnson Expedition, climbers trek the Baltoro, establish Base Camp near Concordia, and attempt this prestigious pyramid with full professional support.
